The Seychelles, one of the world’s most exclusive and unspoilt destinations

The Seychelles

The hunt for luxury real estate has taken buyers to many destinations – but the most sophisticated buyers are now eyeing a slice of the Indian Ocean. Check out the Seychelles, a sensational archipelago of 115 islands. The Seychelles is unique because it’s one of the most beautiful countries in the world, it’s got some of the best beaches in the world and it’s one of the top holiday locations in the world.

The Seychelles has been isolated for many years. As a result, the islands are pristine, untouched and unspoiled. Stunning beaches edging turquoise waters, fantastic underwater gardens of coral, giant tortoises and, of course, the titillating Coco der Mer, have kept the Seychelles on the A-list of exotic destinations. And now, not surprisingly, the A-list for luxury real estate.

A few years ago, the government decided to allow foreign ownership of properties on the islands, albeit with long leaseholds and very tight planning and ecological rules. With nearly 50 per cent of land declared a national park or protected area, new projects have to meet strict environmental guidelines.

Various new developments of luxury villas in the Seychelles have come on the market and interest is strong, with investors keen to get in at the beginning of a virtually new overseas luxury property market.
